well been here 6 times now will give proper account of visit soonish,4 now will just give account of the place.

As i hae mentioned have bin here 6 times now every time has bin at night this time tried to get some photo’s but didn’t have proper camera just done through cell phone the pics are notthe greatest but anyway.

their are gaurds that patrol the place almost bin caught by them once on our 3rd time in not knowing how the gaurds patroled or even if they did but now we know lol. they patrol in a 4×4 with a big spot light, but from what weve heard and investigated they are only their to stop people from taking the masses of copper from in and around the buildings and from what weve seen is a hang of allot, The gaurds ar pretty easy to keep away from they usually stay in a building near the front main entrance with streat lights on in that section, you can usually see them from quite a distance away and lotsa trees and buildings and etc to hide from them, so no big deal really.

good big place not sure if i would be keenon doin a day trip to get some really good photo’s tho, would be cool but i think will pass on that one any q’s on the place feel free to get in contact.

    This place seems like it would be worth the mish from auckland to visit
however on one of the websites about the place it says the guards are armed
24/7…

      armed guards? I used to work as a security guard, and the closest thing
you’ll get to an armed guard here in nz is some dude carrying a big fuck
off maglite. Security guards can get in serious legal shit if they touch you for
any reason other than escorting you off the property.

that they have armed the guards just to protect some copper spouting and a few
fittings; also the word ‘armed’ in security section was just added
by some random who has no other contributions anywhere else on wikipedia.
i’m pretty sure that even if the security guards had valid gun licences,
it would be illegal for them to use the gun for anything other than hunting.
    

    i’d say just someone trying to scare thieves/taggers away from the
place ;)

    ok my flat mate workes for waikato security which is the company that looks
over tokanui or (tokes) they dont have weapons they have a huge spotlight
mounted on the roof of the vehicle or hand held havnt got quite close enough to
see an a radio an a hand held torch but thta will be about it and more
photo’s on the way :D
