The Homie Hotel.
Almost everyone from Christchurch has seen the stockyards, but it’s worth a trip. On the map we couldn’t find the entrance way to the two tunnels, so I’ll try and describe it; one block down from the main decaying buildings is a no exit street, and one of the corners has a high iron fence, behind this fence is the first outlet of the tunnel, so if you start from there and walk in a straight line into hagley park, about 20 meters in you will find the entrance to two big tunnels, the one on the left first comes out behind the fence, and then changes into an old brick tunnel that leads to a drop at the back of the stockyards with ‘The Homie Hotel’ spray painted on the wall, the last section of the tunnel (the old brick part) is unused and full of rubbish and is probably not safe, but you can still go into it a little way. The tunnel on the right was full of water and had quite a current when I went there, so I’m not sure where it leads but it bends off in a different direction quite soon after it starts.
