We’ve been keeping an eye on that big new building under construction on Gloucester st in town. It was a quiet Saturday night, but there was still a whole bunch of drunk people attracting a whole lot of attention to themselves…

After a perimeter scout we found this tiny gap between the building and another existing building, perhaps less than 2 feet wide. 20 meters later we decided to Lara-Croft it up the gap to climb on to the first story, remaining invisible from the street.

The building itself is huge. It’s pretty much what you would expect – a whole bunch of random tools, machines, first aid kits, buckets of paint, etc.

The building itself is perhaps the tallest in Christchurch now? From the top the only building we noticed that seemed to rival it was the Grand Chancellor hotel. There was at least 20 stories, the level numbers were painted on the central metal supports.

Some levels were only just starting construction, with no restraints off the edge of the building. Some levels however were much more complete, with walls, painted hallways, doors and bathrooms.

The photos we got were terrible quality, but no doubt we’ll go back and get some more during daylight or at least with a better (non-cellphone) camera. Hopefully you get the idea. This place is just worth the urbex if even only for the view.

    sweet guys. i flagged the building and just stuck to the crane since new
developments like that can often be alarmed and i’m a pussy ;)

    went here the other nite with oosty/asphyxiac, but fuckface forgot the camera
:P got up onto the roof this time, as the other guys didn’t the first time
they went up. had a wee bit of a fright when the police car pulled up right
outside the main entrance with it’s lights flashing, but it turns out it
was just pulling some dickhead over… with a quick “thank you”
to the big man upstairs we continued up. very easy to get on top of the crane
from the roof, you just gotta have the sack to step off the building onto it. my
sack shriveled back up inside of me so we did not attempt to get up there. could
see some rich cunts in the penthouse sweet of the grand chancellor.

      yeah i considered bridging the gap back onto the building to circumvent the
gate in the crane but sissied out too ;)
      

      theres those two other, slightly smaller cranes in town also. i cant see
any gates stopping people from climbing them right to the
top…
      

      did mean to get off my arse and get some shots of a new semi-abandoned
location this weekend, but with the shitty weather i instead ended up haxing my
360 and spent the entire weekend, monday & tuesday playing IV online.
damn.
