Drain Entrance

“Home of goddah drains.”

Did my first Oz drain adventure last night. Got a taste for it now…

~

Entered a storm drain last night located under the Mt Ommaney shopping centre at about 8.20pm (GMT +10). Their are at least 5 different drain openings adjacent to the shopping centre. However, being a beginner and alone I investigated the largest one.

The drain was massive, large enough to fit a 3 door car or small sedan. Entering the drain was effortless. Just lifted and rolled under a 2 metre tall PVC fence, climbed down a rock retaining wall and stepped onto the drain opening.

The drain itself is remarkably free of tagging, considering it’s size and location. And is mostly dry at the moment until I started approaching the other end. The drain was also home to a handful of nocturnal friends. Bats. The first time one fluttered silently at my face I almost slipped up onto the moist drain surface. From that point on, as if in some sort of indie video game I used my flashlight as a shield to repel my puzzled stalkers.

I must have walked about 400m until the drain become uncompromisingly wet with stagnant liquid and the drain was deadly silent with the exception of my heavy breathing, bat sonar and clumsy footing. I turned back.

Next time I enter the drain It will be during daylight hours with fresh batteries in my camera, increased confidence in myself and waterproof shoes.

So far everyone that I meet who I tell what I get up to just laugh. Fuckers. Apparently little kiddies used to ride body boards down these drains after rain. No one they laugh.
