Experiences at Heathcote Malt WorksHangar Daylight Mish by asphyxiac 12 days ago – 17 photos – rated 50.0%Covert_one and I decided to take an ANZAC weekend drive to see if we could ninja the Maltworks during daylight hours. We were keen to see how it had changed since the last time we were there... Our favourite change was that the door to the hangar was now half a meter open, so that's where we ended up spending the entirety of our time. We got to see the plane close up, along with a big truck, a forklift, and several old cars - all with smashed windscreens or completley missing engines. There's a whole lot of random stuff in there - documents, reciept books, a fuck-tonne of empty vinegar bottles and stacks upon stacks of generic boxes of stuff. Our favourite find was the reels of thousands of malt vinegar stickers. Apparently I didn't understand Covert_one's camera too well, ... read more Misc Adventures by covert_one 2 months ago – 31 photos – rated 60.0%Been to the malt-worx multiple times, been pretty much all over apart from in the hangar (next time). Took a random assortment of pics, not the best quality though. almost got caught by police searching the compound with dogs. that was a bit of adrenaline for the system. "caution. police exercises" (seriously, AOS no less) by chilimissy about 1 year ago – 32 photos – rated 80.0%when we arrived, there was a gate open, but it had a sign near it that said "caution police exercises". we thought fuck. we walked through the gate and saw some people off in the distance, but the cool looking buildings were right beside us. there were a few cars that drove in the gate. we waited around for a bit, then made a dash for some stairs we could see. so we had our adventure, only in the 1st two buildings to the right of the gate, took lots of photos and didn't go anywhere near where there were cops milling about. we didn't stay for long because of them. we were jumping at every sound, and could hear doors opening and closing in other buildings. as we were leaving one of the cops came walking towards us. "excuse me" we kept on walking thinking "oh fuck oh fuck", then ... read more Pigeon Shit by captainpete about 1 year ago – 0 photos – rated 55.0%My first expedition to the works. I cruised along there with some of the ARS crew a few nights back. They showed me around the place a little. Being my first time there I didn't realise a lot had changed since their last voyage. A ladder had been shifted and someone had "unlocked" a door with their boot. A long dusty tunnel was crawled through -- which made for great fun and and claustrophobic exercise. There were pipes and dust and weird structures everywhere. It felt like I was in a space sewer! It's been a while since I've climbed around like that so I was a bit rusty. My night vision and confidence isn't what it used to be. The highlight was checking out the equipment in the old hangar. There was an old plane in there, ZK-EDK I think. Can anyone remember? Also severa... read more Night mish by rob about 1 year ago – 17 photos – rated 64.0%Having been denied the silo's the last time I visited this place I was itching to return and give it another look-over. By the time we arrived at the site the light was quickly fading, we jumped the fence and took a few pictures outside before proceeding to the silos with the aim to get onto the roof. After sufficient ninja-effort, Tangy and I managed to gain entry. We skipped the basement and ground levels this time, instead opting to head straight for the roof via the steep steel gangway-style staircase that is suspended inside the tallest tower of the silo building. There is an oldschool cage lift that would have saved the workers this hike back when this plant was operational but it is, of course, non-functional. We took a few shots in the top-floor room, but only ... read more Malt Works by warlust about 1 year ago – 0 photos – rated 65.0%This old malting plant is by far the most impressive site I currently know of. The best place to enter the site is through a trail of bushes starting at the carpark for the soccer field. This place is somewhat well protected and alot of locals must know about this place because holes in the fence get made and patched up regularly. When I went there first there was a patch of the fence with a make-shift ladder and the razor wire cut away. The hanger building next to the main entrance seems to be in-use and I've heard a company might be using it to do sound recording. The first building I went into was the large one on the far left hand side, it has no doors and the first floor had large hollow rooms with some machinery still in place. There was a ladder leading between floors a... read more Photos by tangy about 1 year ago – 3 photos – rated 45.0%Here are some more photos. Maltiplication by rob about 1 year ago – 2 photos – rated 52.0%Been to this site a few times with various mates.. It's a pretty large and contains a number of buildings, with some harder to access than others. The most impressive feature is the concrete grain silos that are about 8 storeys high. Will add some pictures of various locations around this site as i get them... UPDATE: The main silos have been sealed! |
