Was on my way past and had seen this location on the site. Had the camera with me so parked up and scouted the place. Didn't check out the tunnels but had a walk down under the main bridge West from the location. This place is amazing as far as art work goes. The fact that if you were to throw a stone it'd hit someone in the immaculate Hagley park just over the road makes it an even more interesting place. The above ground underground in the heart of Christchurch. Worth a look.

Almost everyone from Christchurch has seen the stockyards, but it's worth a trip. On the map we couldn't find the entrance way to the two tunnels, so I'll try and describe it; one block down from the main decaying buildings is a no exit street, and one of the corners has a high iron fence, behind this fence is the first outlet of the tunnel, so if you start from there and walk in a straight line into hagley park, about 20 meters in you will find the entrance to two big tunnels, the one on the left first comes out behind the fence, and then changes into an old brick tunnel that leads to a drop at the back of the stockyards with 'The Homie Hotel' spray painted on the wall, the last section of the tunnel (the old brick part) is unused and full of rubbish and is probably not safe,... read more
