Waiting for light...

Alright, this lengthy write-up has been long overdue! Just like many other UrbExers in Christchurch, the Feltex factory caught our wandering eyes, and so our two-man crew decided to check it out. Now, this was not our first time exploring places like this, but we’d recently discovered SlackNinja and decided to take it a bit more seriously this time. This experience actually took place over the course of a month or so, with us going most Friday nights. Each time we parked our car on the Brodie St, and did a couple of walkarounds first to check for security. The first night didn’t last long as three or four other people pulled up in a car, parked on Brodie, got torches and ropes out of their boot and dashed onto the property. We stalked after them across the pavement outsi... read more

Dreaded Loom

After decided that the ENSOC bbq at the uni was totally bogus when ventured into a nearby favorite for a quick once over. Besides, I needed my NZ urbex fix while I was over. So basically the place is in expected condition, slightly more vandalism evidence of some sort of demolition and or renovation work etc, etc. We entered in the site in the historic way; climbing up onto the ventilation shaft's wooden brackets on the western side and dropped into the isolated courtyard. Silly bastards still have locked the door from our first entry. Wandered round for a bit and basically left because of time constraints and it wasn't exactly warm inside the warehouses.

Urban Ex Noobs by anonymous 6 months ago – 0 photos – rated 12.0%

me and my 3 amegoes discovered urban ex and desided feltex would be a good starting spot so armed with a bag of tricks and our noobish confidence we walked the parrimeter and then through the middle. The brains of our outfit had looked at photos and decided we would get on the roof via a tree climb. All went well we walked around a bit and were in the act of trieing to find a spot to secure our rope (Courtecy of the bag of tricks) when some headlights pulled up into the front area we of course hid and there was no way they could see us... until the brains stood up to see what was happening luckily the guy in the car was to busy entering a 5 didget pin into a key pad then havn a quick loook round the inner courtyard. after that we got skittish and went to leave. As we neared th... read more

hobo lair

i stumbled across this site the other week and thought urban exploration looked pretty interesting, so we decided to test the waters. feltex seemed like a safe enough bet for 3 urbex virgins and the photos from previous experiences made it seem like a pretty interesting place. getting in wasn't a hassle, did a quick walk around the perimeter checking for entrances and signs of life, all was good so with the shasta beast leading we popped our cherry, hawkeye injuring himself in the process. pretty skitterish at first, there was a bunch of weird noises on the roof that sounded like people walking around, but we scouted a secondary escape route and began to explore properly. pretty interesting place, huge amount of rooms, machinery, pipes and other stuff. overall pretty fucking c... read more

looms o' doom

Spurred by jealousy, we set out to gain access to the feltex buildings last night. The place is pretty fucking big and although most of it consists of massive empty warehouse space, there are a few interesting parts to it. The big 2-storey boiler is quite impressive (pics came out all shitty - will go back during the day to get some more) and the 2 old looms around the front looked pretty cool. At one stage we actually got lost, at night the place all looks the same and its easy to lose your bearings ;) Not all the pics on this experience were taken the same night - over the last couple of weeks we've skulked around the fenced-off courtyard, climbed the water tower (which is empty) and mucked around on the roof. Gutted we got beaten to first entry, but it makes for... read more

Roofless Shed

ok, we have now been into every room (that we can find), and it is, excuse my french, fucking amazing. It was only abandoned recently (2005 - 2006ish we think) so theres still alot of interesting stuff. fire extinguishers, food and equipment, i even found a fucking laptop! it was, of course, a hunk of shit with 1mb of ram, and a 20mb hardrive that was only a word processor but you get what i mean about it being interesting. I always thought the Maltworks was the coolest urbex location, but this is ten times better. theres electricity, running water etc BUT NO ALARMS!!!! my only recommendation is to go during the day, it's much better. We've been there multiple times during the day, with no security scares, but the one time we went at night a guard had a bit of a snoop round. w... read more

The tower

Seen this place driving past, but never had a proper look. Me and the lads jumped in the oosty-mobile and headed over. looks reasonably secure, but we found some possible entry points. it's hard to gauge the size until you head round the back of the site. We checked out the perimeter and took some snaps. Plenty of evidence of homeless shelters on the back side, between the bushes and the buildings. will update experience and add more photos when we have fully checked out the inside.
