Lost all the comments for some unknown reason. Mega-lame, had a backup from last month, but still… need to start making regular backups all the time. Thank god it wasn’t the locations.

I’ve put together some basic forums out of a length of number 8 wire and a piece of old chewing gum. You can access them from the “Forum” link on the menu at the top of the page. The forum is only available to registered users. It’s early days yet and I expect there will be quite a few bugs.

Easy way to find unvoted-on items

No one votes on this site, but SUPPOSING you did want to vote there is now an unrated tab on locations, places and photos to show items you haven’t voted for yet once you’re logged in. Also the login box at the side shows the number of items in each category you haven’t clicked a star on yet because you are a lazy, lazy bastard. You can click on these numbers too.

New rating system

We’ve implemented a new, and hopefully fairer rating system. Items with a small number of votes are now weighted towards 50%, this means that one user can’t rate an item very low or high and have it instantly catapulted towards the top ten or down into oblivion.

Also, there is a new “turd” option, for the things you consider especially weak (effectively a vote for ZERO ). If you can’t see the turd, you may need to hit ctrl-F5 to refresh your cache.

PLEASE VOTE ! Ratings cannot accurately function without your input. Please take the time to rate as many photos, experiences and locations as you can.

As a general policy the moderators reserve the right to delete/alter photos or experiences we deem too incriminating for the protection of the poster. Probably not the best to give explicit instructions how to get into places or post photos of illegal (well, more illegal) activity :P

This site is for urban exploration ONLY . This means abandoned buildings, construction sites, hydro-dams, military forts, crazy urban architecture, rooftops, storm drains and the like. If you really can’t find pics of a location it’s ok to add it without photos, but photos are greatly preferred (“pics or it didn’t happen”)

We’ve all had a mad weekend. The server is up and running again and things are sweet. It’ll be about 24 hours or so from 26/3/2007 00:38:12 UTC before everyone can see the site again (we switched to a new IP).

Email activation broken, fixed

Activation emails weren’t being sent, Pete has now fixed this and I have re-sent activation emails to anyone that wasn’t registered. Also, gmail has a tendency to mark our mail as spam for some reason, so check your spam folder if it appears you have received no activation email.

Downtime

This site went down last night so the server could have a power supply upgrade and one of it’s rotting hard drives pulled. More downtime is planned in three weeks time for maybe a day or so while we move the server to it’s new home.

New Zealand address search is back on-line. It has a few bugs still but they’ll be ironed out when there is time. Dirtyfilthy also contributed some good IE fixes. We’ve got a few more members—welcome aboard! It’s good to see more content making its way in.

Damnit! Just when you think it’s polished. Just when it’s nearly done and dusted. Just when the end is in sight Internet Explorer wants to deal out a shanking.

I use Linux you see (it’s like Windows but free and nothing like Windows). On Linux we tend to use Firefox as a web browser. Firefox behaves as a browser should. To those using Internet Explorer: Have you ever wondered why all these new websites look really shit? All over the place and nothing works properly? It’s because they were designed to a standard that Microsoft ignores for the most part. Alas, for some it is a necessary evil.

Fired up IE4Linux and cried. SlackNinja.com looks crap and there are things that don’t work. Well fuck refactoring for IE. The heap of shit browser can’t even handle PNGs properly. Dirtyfilthy, if you’re keen to contribute the IE hacks code then I’d be appreciative but I’m going to let the waters settle with IE7 and see how much more work that heap of shit will create for the world.

Fuck you Microsoft. Some painfully remember the winsocks debacle.
